The 2026 15U Canadian Championships took place in Montreal, QC and represented another significant milestone in the continued development of the Water Polo West High Performance pathway.

While medals and competitive outcomes remain important, the provincial
program is designed first and foremost to develop athletes capable of progressing
toward future national team opportunities. The championship allowed us to evaluate
our athletes in a demanding competitive environment while also assessing the
effectiveness of our current athlete pathway, provincial preparation, coaching
collaboration, and overall program culture.
The boys' team earned the bronze medal while the girls' team finished fourth. These results are encouraging, particularly when viewed alongside the age profile of our teams and the limited preparation time available. Most importantly, both teams demonstrated outstanding discipline, professionalism, resilience, and commitment throughout the championship. The behaviour of our athletes, coaches, and support staff reflected extremely well on British Columbia and on Water Polo West.
The 2026 17U Canadian Championships in Regina, Saskatchewan provided an important opportunity for the Water Polo West High Performance Program. Although both the boys' and girls' teams finished fourth overall, the championship must be evaluated within its unique context.

Unlike previous years, the 17U and 19U events were effectively combined, resulting in our predominantly 2009 and 2010-born athletes competing against numerous 2007- 2008 born athletes from other provinces. Despite these challenges, the tournament provided valuable insight into athlete development, provincial preparation, coaching
effectiveness and future planning. Water Polo West is proud of the resilience shown by our BC athletes in this tournament.
Congratulations to both our 15U and 17U teams for their performances in the Canadian Championships.
Thank you to the coaches and the volunteer parent-chaperones who made these trips possible.
