Water Polo West has been working with Pat Oaten, Water Polo Canada’s Pathway Technical Lead, to ensure BC athletes are eligible for Age Group National Team selection.
Although WPC has not yet posted their 2026-27 AGNT Team Selection Document, we have been told that a thorough assessment and evaluation process is part of it. We are also aware of the tight deadline at the start of the 2026-27 season. WPW is required to send testing results to WPC very early in October.
All age group athletes will need to go through official testing with BC’s National Development Centre at the 2026 Assessment Camp – September 26 & 27 in Victoria, BC at
Saanich Commonwealth Place
4636 Elk Lake Dr, Victoria, BC V8Z 5M1
The six WPC performance-based tests will be conducted by WPW Head Coach Branko Pekovic, assisted by NDC coaches Alexis Vozza, Hayley McKelvey (Surrey), Kyle Bos (Fraser Valley), and Simon Wu (Pacific Storm).
Saturday, Sep 26 1:00pm to 7:00pm – all boys born 2007 or later.
Sunday, Sep 27 11:30am to 6:00pm – all girls born 2007 or later.
If you are unable to attend this camp but wish to be considered for AGNT selection, you will have to refer to Water Polo Canada’s selection policy as to what exemptions they will permit.
From the Water Polo West perspective, this camp’s results will be part of 2027 Team BC selection. Absences may be excused due to injury, out of country school, or other personal reasons. Please refer to the 2026-27 Team BC Selection document for details.
Exact schedule of each test and rotation of athletes will be communicated once registration is complete.
Some athletes may have breaks while others are testing, therefore coaches are not able to act as chaperones throughout the day. Similar to a tournament situation, families are responsible for ensuring athletes are at the pool on time and are responsible for their own nutrition throughout the day.
It is strongly recommended that drivers make reservations for the ferries.
The cost of the Assessment Camp is $200. Link to registration. Athletes will need to be registered with their club for 2026-27. Registration for the Assessment Camp closes on September 20.
